Welcome/Info On Veterans of Encelia

Hi! Welcome to the old timesey forum of the Veterans of Encelia division. I am Tanweth, Manager and Tyrant of this great division.

This is a gameless division that is just to allow veterans of the clan who are no longer members because they lost their division to be part of LoE again so they can vote and stuff. My plan is basically just to accept any former member who was around a while and seems like someone I'd want to give membership privileges again. But later when the division gets some members I may do something a little less authoritarian.

This may only be temporary, or maybe more permanent (there'll always be veterans who give up gaming but maybe want to stay connected with the clan), depending upon what you guys think we should do with it. But that's for future consideration.

Special Joke-Filled Folksy Caucus Results!

Well we had our caucus, and it weren't bad. Everyone who signed up did come at least for a little bit, and a couple of other people came, including the most wonderful Paradox and the quite nice Guy. We cracked some jokes and had some brief discussions, and I came out of it feeling encouraged. One of the things that came out of it you've already seen. We have a new COD4 division. It may not go far, but then again it just might.

I also talked with the people there about networking. Most divisions we've had have come through networking. An LoE member/affiliate knows a friend who runs a division himself or knows someone who runs a division, who is then approached about joining LoE, is enticed by the message, and joins us. That sort of thing. One of the members there (I wont give details since at this point its just a possibility that may not bear fruit) is in a small clan, and he decided he would approach that clan about joining LoE. It may or may not happen, but often it does, in which case hopefully they help us and we help them. I also happen to know someone who's running a clan that I'm going to see if I can get in LoE in the near future.

So, basically, the message I'm trying to get across is, does anyone else have such connections? Do any of you know anybody pretty well who's in a clan (or you're in a clan yourself) that you think might be interested in joining? If so, let me know and we can talk about it. I'd try to do the selling, so don't worry about your persuasion skills so much.

Other than that, I'm open to any suggestions you guys have as to other ways we can get members/divisions. That's what we need most desperately right now, so I'm open to trying most anything. You can post your suggestions here or contact me by some other means to get them to me if you so desire.

So I am trying to start up a new CoD 4 division for the Xbox 360 (Not really start, more like revive). You may remember Codename Proelium (CP or =CP=) from when the clan was somewhat active.
[Addendum by Tanweth - this division HAS been granted provisional status! Hurrah, a new division! And dare I say it has a much more appealing name than our other current COD4 division.]

Who Can Come?

Anyone who isn't an unequivocal douchebag. I don't care if they're a member or not. Simply them being interested in coming (and them not being douchebags) is qualification enough for them to come.

Description

Because activity has been so low I think most of us have lost our connection to the clan. So I want this meeting to not just be a boring ol' discussion of constitutional amendments and general membership initiatives or whatever. Lets meet up and just chat too as friends would, and indeed I think we should all be friends. So, I dub this meeting the Special Joke-Filled Folksy Caucus.

Post-Survey Decisions

Now that the League of Encelia Survey to End All Surveys is finished, I have a few decisions to make based upon the results.

Firstly, I will renew the website and domain name, though probably with a different webhost. I may very well end up just wasting my money on it, but hey I'll be optimistic and take the chance.

Secondly, I will reschedule the Special Joke-Filled Folksy Caucus for next weekend, and with any luck it will be worthwhile.

I will also announce one or two plans right now to help jump-start the clan:

1. I plan to create a gameless division called "Veterans of Encelia" which any former member still interested in the clan but no longer in it because their division is gone can regain member status in the clan (allowing them to discuss and vote on private clan issues).

2. I plan to load up World of Warcraft again (on a private server called Embers of the Legion). This may not sound very helpful, but by getting involved in WoW again I'm hoping I can get us an active WoW private server division again.

3. I plan to find out where the hell Lathandier went! I was hoping he could be my comrade in arms through this process. OH well, hopefully I can "persuade" him to come back.

We'll see what else we can figure out at the Special Joke-Filled Folksy Caucus.

Now the League of Encelia Survey to End All Surveys is officially ended. We managed to squeeze one extra respondent out of this juicy weekend. That makes a total of 13 responds (nine in the first week, four in the second week). It's not a lot, but it's definitely better than it could've been, and the responses are encouraging to me (even if I don't entirely trust the honesty of everyone who responded ).

Star Wars: The New Era

Ive mentioned this mod a couple of times before, and I decided to check up on it again today. This is a Star Wars Half-Life 2 mod developed by some in the Movie Battles 2 mod for JA, and it does look like a pretty cool mod. According to their latest news release from a couple of weeks ago, they're close to a first release, but can't give a specific date. Well, if they release that, that could be something new and exciting for MW to play.

It has some more traditional JA style modes like deathmatch (which is basically TFFA), duel, and CTF which look like they'll play much like they did in JA with weapons pickups. But there is also a Movie Battles mode which looks like it'll run like Movie Battles 2 in its Authentic mode with classes, maps which are replica of locations in the movies, and specific objectives.

Here are the results of the "Survey To End All Surveys..." Week 1. There were nine respondents, which may not sound like much, but I'm actually pretty pleased with that. The survey is still open for another week, and believe me I am going to try to suck every last respondent I can out of this juicy survey in that second week.

My comment: Interestingly one person said they were no longer interested in gaming but would want to be actively involved in the clan if there was something to be actively involved in. But I didn't limit the question to simply gaming in the clan, so that suggests some people may have left gaming, but still want to hang out with us on the forums at least.

My comment: I don't believe this for a second. If that many people were interested in actively helping me revive the clan all this time, I wish they would've said so earlier. But I am happy about the sentiment nonetheless. However, none of the seven people that said yes have contacted me to tell me who they are! I need you to tell me that, because since the survey is anonymous I have no idea who said yes!

just one simple question im near the end of my tafe(college) course about 5 weeks left and i just got a pile of assignments totaling 18 overall
and not the simple kind im talking about the complex (5 page reports, instruction manuals for a thousand tasks and multiple presentations) and my question to you is would YOU be able to handle that much assignments?

I know just about every week I seem to ask you to do something. Well this time I REALLY mean it (as I hope the multi-colored REALLY indicates). The future of the clan depends on you doing this. I have created a little HTML survey on the website that I want as many as possible current and former LoE members to fill out. And fill it out HONESTLY. It's main purpose is to gauge remaining interest in the clan. It is completely anonymous.

We all know LoE has basically collapsed. But we may still be able to revive it. But before I and any who choose to follow me should work on that (and before I renew this website, which is up for renewal in two months), I need to know if there's enough interest remaining to back up that effort. So please, fill out the survey honestly. Don't put in an answer just because you think it's what I want to hear, because in the long run that wont help anyone (and remember it IS anonymous). Just answer it with how you feel. And if you don't answer it at all, I will assume that you are indifferent toward the clan (though if you are, I'd prefer you fill out the survey and say that so I know for sure).

Oh, and be sure to answer the "swallow" question the right way, or else.
