Overview:
Presidential elections are held every four months. Any LoE member may vote! Any member may also run for president if they are sponsored by two other members. An elections administrator (EA) oversees all elections. If you wish to run in the next election, you must first make sure that it is past the date at which members may declare candidacy (see the Candidates section below for the date). Then make a post in the forums about it or contact the elections administrator (usually there is a thread posted after sign ups open in the League General Discussion forum). You may also use the League General Discussion forum to make separate topics about your campaign. None of these topics will be censored unless they break forum rules.
If you are running, the league may provide campaign tools for you, such as the Townhall Discussion (a thread where members ask the candidates questions about their positions and what they would do if elected), and the elections administrator can also give you campaign advice if you are unsure of how to go about campaigning!
Voting:
If you are a member of an LoE division, you may view and post in the Public Discussion & Voting forum under the category League of Encelia - Main. The Voting subforum of this forum is used for voting in elections, so you must be able to view that forum to be able to vote. If you are a member of an LoE division and cannot view either of these forums, email Tanweth and he will give you access.
Absentee Voting: If you will be unable to vote in the election poll, do not despair! You are allowed to give an absentee vote to the elections administrator via email, forum private message, or instant messenger (contact info is shown above) any time during the month before the election. The EA will then add it into the election results. Your vote will only be revealed to the secondary vote checker to help ensure that the EA isn't cheating. If you wish to change your absentee vote at any point before the election, you may also send in a change of vote.
How to find out more about the candidates:
Townhall Discussion: The Townhall Discussion is a forum thread (posted after candidate sign ups open) that gives any LoE members the opportunity to ask the candidates questions. It is a good source of information on the candidates to help you make an educated decision on who to vote for when the election happens.
Presidential Candidate Positions?: This is a thread that attempts to summarize the positions of each of the candidates on major league issues, so that people who are just starting to check out the candidates dont have the read the entire Townhall Discussion (which gets pretty darn big). It is created after the first month of sign ups is over normally, and is updated once more a few days before the election.
