III. President
The president is elected every four months to act on the members’ behalf and represent their interests. The president may decide any issue affecting the entire league (including issues not covered here) so long as the issue does not contradict this constitution or general membership decisions.
A. There is a vice president, who advises the president and takes part in some presidential decisions. The vice president can only be appointed (and expelled) by the president.
B. The president has exclusive authority over the following issues. Decisions on these issues cannot be changed or reversed by the general membership.
1. Giving a proposed division provisional status. This makes it part of the league temporarily. Provisional status may be granted for up to three months. This decision requires vice presidential approval.
a) Members of provisional divisions cannot vote on clan issues.
b) The president may revoke a division’s provisional status at any time.
2. The vice president may break the tie in any poll of the general membership, except election polls.
3. If a division is suddenly leaderless, the president can temporarily lead the division. During this time, the president may do what he can to get the division started again, or recommend that it be closed.
C. The president also has the shared powers listed in the general membership section.
D. The president may create a line of succession for if he disappears without notification for more than five days. The highest person in the line who is present and available takes over until the president’s return.
1. By default the line of succession includes first the vice president, then the elections administrator. However, the president may choose someone other than the elections administrator, and may expand the line.
2. If the president plans to be absent and gives prior notification, he may select any member to substitute for him.
3. In any case that there is a temporary president, they assume the powers of the vice president as well as the president, unless they appoint a temporary vice president.
E. If the president resigns, the vice president will replace him for the remainder of his term. If there is no vice president, then a mid-term election is automatically called (see Elections article).
