Summary

League of Encelia (LoE) is a multi-gaming clan which consists of divisions, each supporting separate games (or separate servers in an MMO-style game):

• ANYONE may apply to make a division in LoE (and is encouraged to!). If they seem acceptable, their division will be created.
• Divisions get benefits from LoE such as a pool of recruits, free website/forum hosting, and even free website design if requested. For more information, see the Services page.
• Divisions have their own name and leaders, and have almost complete control over themselves without any interference from the league leadership.
• LoE is run democratically, with all division members being able to directly vote on clan issues and overrule the president. The league's president is also elected. Any member can vote and even run in presidential elections.

Q: Why should I create my clan in League of Encelia?
A: There are many reasons to join League of Encelias as a division, and I will list a few of the most significant below:

1. You join a larger community, giving you easy access to a pool of potential recruits (not to mention jolly nice people :D )
2. You are allowed free website hosting (with full FTP access), free forum hosting (using myBB, a very versatile forum software) and can even request to have a website designed for you!
3. Many of us have had long-term experience leading or being big shots in clans, and we know that clan leading often isn't easy. We'll be happy to contribute our wisdom to you anytime you could use help. :)
4. You do not have to give up any of your sovereignty! You have the right to run yourself as you please. The only exceptions are regarding forum rules (if we host your forums) and if you decide to expand into another game we must approve it.
5. You and your members have a say in how LoE is run by being able to vote (and bring up) clan issues democratically.
6. All LoE members have the right to run for League of Encelia president and vote in any presidential elections!

Q: Sounds great! So how do I join?
A: If you want to join as a member, look at our divisions list and see what division interests you. Then go to their website or application page and apply!

If you want to create a division, fill out a division application on the forums, as per the instructions in the Join section of this site. You will then be contacted the president or another staff member, and they will take it from there!

Q: What is the process for creating a division?
A: After you have applied, a staff member (usually the president or vice president) should contact you, and possibly interview you for more information on your division. The president and vice president will then decide whether to give your proposed division provisional (temporary) status in the league or not. During provisional status, you get all the benefits of being a division, except you and your members cannot voter or run in a presidential election, you cannot vote on clan issues (but you can still discuss them), and you cannot get a website designed for you. You still get free website and forum hosting, a pool of recruits, advice on getting your clan running, and you still don't lose your sovereignty. ;)

Provisional status gives us a chance to see your division in operation, and gives you a chance to decide whether you like being in LoE or not. It can last up to three months, but sometimes lasts as little as a couple of weeks (depending mostly on your activity). After it seems like it is time, either the president or the general membership will decide whether to give your division full status or not.

Q: Who is in charge of the League of Encelia?
A: The president is LoE's leader, but ultimately LoE is run democratically by the members. The members elect the president, run for president, vote on (and bring up) clan issues directly, and overrule the president's decisions if they are dissatisfied with them.

The president, however, is responsible for the day-to-day running of the clan, takes the lead in setting our goals, and decides most clan issues on his own. The president is elected every 4 months. For more info on how LoE is run, see the Constitution page.

Q: How can I get more involved in League of Encelia?
A: Lotsa ways! The biggest is registering on our forums, and posting there regularly. If you want to get involved, the first step is to join the community by interacting with members outside of your division! You should post in the forum sections outside of your division's forum, especially the forums in League of Encelia - Main category at the top, and the Off Topic Discussion category at the bottom. You can also participate in running the clan, as discussed in the next question...

Q: How can I take part in clan decisions?
A: If you are a member, you should be able to view the General Membership Public Discussion forum under the League of Encelia - Main category in our forums (at the top of the forum list). That is used for discussing clan issues. There is also a Voting forum which is used for official votes such as elections (though some votes may be held in the main public discussion forum). If you are a member of a provisional division, you can create and post in discussions of clan issues freely, but only members of full divisions can vote on those clan issues.

Both discussing and voting on these clan issues give you a chance to make your voice heard. You should especially vote in elections if you can. That's where you get a chance to play a role in selected the league's head guy! If you want to get even more involved in running LoE, ask the president if there's any way you can help, and he may give you a staff position. Or, you can run for president yourself!

Q: Who can run for president/vote in elections?
A: ANY member of a full division can run for president and vote in the elections! Elections are held in the Voting sub-forum of the General Membership Public Discussion forum (as described in the answer to the previous question), so when there is an election, go there to vote. Q: I've heard about a League of Encelia Constitution. What is that?
A: The League of Encelia Constitution, much like the United States Constitution, documents the rules and conventions of the league, setting up the system that we use to conduct business. It defines the powers of the president and general membership and states what their roles are. It also includes other aspects such as the elections system and a provision guaranteeing divisions the right to run themselves freely without interference.
